Sharing and Permissions

Why Permissions Matter?
Permission system ensures GIS data is secured and shared in a controlled manner:

Permission System Overview
GeoCloud uses a 3-level permission system:
- System Level: TLGeo platform permissions
- Organization Level: Permissions within the organization
- Project Level: Permissions on specific projects
Organization-Level Permissions
Organization Roles
Admin
Full permissions:
- Manage all members and projects
- Organization settings and billing
- Delete organization
- Add/remove other Admins
Manager
Management permissions:
- Manage projects and assign members
- Create and delete projects
- Invite new members (cannot grant Admin permissions)
- View reports and analytics
Member
Working permissions:
- Join assigned projects
- Create personal projects
- Upload data (in projects with permission)
- Share private projects
Viewer
View permissions:
- View shared projects only
- Download data (if permitted)
- Cannot create new projects
- Cannot invite other members
Project-Level Permissions
Project Roles
Owner
Full authority:
- Delete entire project
- Change project settings
- Manage all members and permissions
- Transfer ownership
Limit: Each project has only 1 Owner
Admin
Project management:
- Add/remove members
- Change project settings (except delete)
- Manage data and maps
- Export all data
Editor
Content creation:
- Create and edit maps
- Upload and edit data
- Configure styling and popup
- Use analysis tools
Viewer
Read-only:
- View maps and data
- Use basic tools (zoom, pan, identify)
- Export (if configured)
- Comment and feedback
Sharing Projects
Share within Organization
Automatic access:
- Organization members can discover projects
- Respect project visibility settings
- Inherit organization permissions
Private Sharing (Invitations Only)
Email invitation
- Project Members > Invite
- Enter email address
- Select role for each person
- Add personal message
- Send invitation
Project Visibility Levels
Private
- Only Owner and invited members
- Not shown in search
- Requires direct invitation
- Maximum security
Organization
- Visible to organization members
- Requires access request
- Discoverable in organization project list
- Good for internal collaboration
Public
- Visible to everyone
- Listed in public directory
- Search engine indexable
- Maximum discoverability
Common Issues
User Cannot Access Project
- Check project membership
- Verify organization membership
- Check account status
- Review invitation status
